Bol Processor 2 (BP2) is a music composition/improvisation software producing arrangements of sound-objects with a set of rules similar to formal grammars. The inference engine produces strings of symbols feeding an algorithm for the expansion of (polymetric) polyphonic/polyrhythmic structures, and ultimately a time-setting algorithm dealing with constraints on sound-objects. First interfaced with MIDI and Csound, BP2 has a great potential for modelling durations and melodic patterns in speech synthesis.
Linguistic domain(s) : mathematical_linguistics, writing_systems, speech_prosody

Laboratoire parole et langage (LPL, Aix-en-Provence FR)
This utility was developed with the help of the Ukelele package. It allows typing a text directly in SAMPA (the ASCII encoding for IPA) and getting it converted to IPA in a word processor. This version only works under MacOS X with a French keyboard. Still, if anyone needs (a few) further developments I can take care of them or I will give instructions for doing them. Everything is explained in the lisez-moi!.pdf file. Today the IPA font recommended by SIL is Unicode CharisSIL4 that may be downloaded from: http://scripts.sil.org/CharisSILfont
Collection : LPL tools [crdo000763]
Linguistic domain(s) : applied_linguistics, cognitive_science, language_documentation

[Amis] Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages (WTUC, Taiwan TW)
Amis people is one of the aboriginal people in Taiwan. The Amis language belongs to austronesian languages (formosan group), it is spoken by more than 100,000 Amis persons living in Taiwan. Since the Government of Taiwan has imposed Chinese language for more than 50 years, today Amis language can be considered as an endangered language. This corpus comes from field work with Amis people living in urban context; it describes their usages concerning three languages: Amis, Chinese, and Minnan. (Minnan people are about 70% of the population of Taiwan.) The content is 25 tapes recorded in two cities (Hualien and Taipei) from January 2002 to August 2003. It consists in interviews (in both Chinese and Amis languages), free conversations and Christian liturgy.
Linguistic domain(s) : sociolinguistics, anthropological_linguistics, language_documentation

[Tibetan] Centre de sciences humaines (CSH, New Delhi IN)
This "ritual of the broken stone" was performed in July 1996 to celebrate an auspicious event in a private house of Choglamsar, a settlement of Tibetan refugees in Leh (Ladakh, India). According to local informants, its performers were ermits living in caves of Spiti. Most astonishing is the mixture of a religious ritual with comical scenes and demonstrations of magical powers.
Linguistic domain(s) : anthropological_linguistics
